The second edition of ON FOCUS, Amorpha Youth Foundation’s photography programme, will launch this Saturday, 22 February 2025, with the Saturday Photo Walk „All You Can Shoot“. Participants will have to opportunity later to exhibit some of their photographs.The gathering point for the walk is Amorpha Cultural Space at 10 Dragan Tsankov Street in Varna, Bulgaria.

Entries are accepted without age restrictions. Participation in the walk is free of charge. Participants are not limited in terms of photo equipment: anything from a big black camera to a phone with a flash or a disposable film camera will do…

Photographer Denislav Stoychev will lead the walk. He will challenge participants “to discover plots where usually nothing catches the eye”. Just as in sports we first warm up our bodies, so in visual art our senses must be activated before they go into working mode. “The aim is to walk the streets of our city and capture the spirit of Varna in a short period of time without genre, stylistic or technical limitations.”

Participants will have the opportunity to display their photograph series from the walk in the upcoming collective photography exhibition at Amorpha Cultural Space and the adjacent open space of Advokatskata Gradinka city park. The exhibition will open on February 27 at 19:00 h.

_{Denislav Stoychev is a documentary photographer who has lived in Varna since 2022. In 2017-2020 he worked as a full-time photojournalist in the Bulgarian press. His photographs and texts have been published in dozens of Bulgarian and international media outlets, including The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Wall Street Journal, Der Spiegel, National Geographic and Fisheye magazines.
Denislav Stoychev has displayed his photography in more than ten solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. He has participated in group exhibitions and festivals such as the 32nd Month of Photography in Bratislava (2022), Art Start at the Credo Bonum Gallery in Sofia (2022), International Photographic Meetings in Plovdiv (2021), Memento Vivere part of the PhotoFabric programme at the Bulgarian National Gallery (2021) and FODAR Biennale (2013, 2015). His latest solo exhibition, “Together for a Short Time”, was displayed at Synthesis Gallery in Sofia in the spring of 2024.}

_{Since 2023 has Denislav Stoychev participated in activities by Amorpha Youth Foundation in Bulgaria as photographer, mentor of young artists, consultant and curator of exhibitions.}

In 2025 Amorpha Youth Foundation’s ON FOCUS photography programme will hold documentary photography workshops, photography exhibitions, photo walks and a public photography event. This year’s programme cycle is funded by the National Culture Fund at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria.
