● How does philological education contribute to young people’s personal development?
The public lecture by PROF. DR. GERGANA PETKOVA – Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” will address the topic and attempt to answer these and other important questions. The lecture will take place upon invitation by Amorpha Foundation as part of Amorpha Academy 2024.
Gergana Petkova is a professor of Japanese literature and culture and a long-time head of the Japanese studies major. He visited Varna at the invitation of the “Amorpha” Youth Foundation as a lecturer in the “Books – Japan” department of the “Amorpha Academy for Young Ambassadors of Culture” – 2024.
The event is part of the “Amorpha Academy for Young Ambassadors of Culture” – 2024, edition “Europe – Asia: Books, Cinema, Cultural Diplomacy” with a focus on East and Southeast Asia. The training programme is designed and implemented by Amorpha Youth Foundaton with the support of the National Culture Fund under Bulgaria’s Ministry of Culture.
● Focus on EAST AND SOUTH-EAST ASIA
You will learn more about studying the cultures and languages of the region in the university’s bachelor programmes: JAPANESE STUDIES, KOREAN STUDIES, CHINESE STUDIES and the outstanding SOUTH, EAST AND SOUTHEAST ASIA master programme which explores several languages and countries in the region.
Master’s programmes on the region include: Japanese Language and Culture | Japanese Studies: Society and Culture | Society and Culture of Korea | South, East and Southeast Asia | Buddhism: Languages, Literatures, and Cultures | Intercultural communication and translation in Chinese and Bulgarian | Europe and Asia: Cultural Diplomacy and Geopolitics of the European Union
● The audience will have be invited to ask questions about all degree programmes available at the Faculty of Classical and New Philologies of the oldest higher education institution in Bulgaria.
